Welcome to the World, Laiken – A Cozy Newborn Session in St. Johns, Florida

In-home newborn sessions are extraordinarily special, and little Laiken's session was no exception. On a bright morning, I had the privilege of capturing this precious family in their beautifully decorated nursery, where soft natural light poured through the windows, creating the perfect setting for these timeless memories.

A Home Full of Love

The session took place in Laiken's nursery, a thoughtfully designed space featuring a stunning gold crib and elegant cream-colored furnishings. The room's soft, neutral palette created the perfect backdrop for our session, with touches of blush pink adding gentle warmth to each frame. The family chose to wear coordinating cream and white outfits, which complemented the nursery's aesthetic beautifully and created a timeless, cohesive look throughout their gallery.

Sweet Family Moments

What made this session particularly special was capturing the beautiful connection between this family of three (plus their adorable fur baby!). Mom and Dad's joy was evident in every image as they cradled their precious newborn. The way they looked at their little one with such pure love and adoration is exactly why these early days need to be documented.

I especially loved capturing those tender moments – Dad's gentle kiss on Laiken's forehead, Mom's serene smile as she held her baby girl, and their sweet family cuddles by the nursery window. Even their furry family member made an appearance, adding an extra touch of warmth to their family portraits.

The Details That Matter

Laiken's session featured a beautiful monogrammed blush pink blanket that added a personal touch to many of the images. These special details are what make each newborn session unique and meaningful. We made sure to capture close-ups of her tiny features – those precious newborn feet, her peaceful sleeping expressions, and the way she curled up so perfectly in her parents' arms.

Tips for Planning Your Newborn Session

For families considering their own newborn session, here are some insights from Laiken's beautiful morning:

Timing: Newborn sessions are best scheduled within the first two weeks after birth. This is when babies are typically most sleepy and comfortable being posed.

Location: In-home sessions, like Laiken's, offer both comfort and convenience for new parents. Your space doesn't need to be perfect—just a room with good natural light and some meaningful personal touches.

Wardrobe: Consider neutral, coordinating outfits like this family chose. Cream, white, and soft blush tones photograph beautifully and create timeless images.

Personal Touches: Include special items like monogrammed blankets, meaningful toys, or family heirlooms to make your session unique.

Relax: The session is baby-led, with plenty of time for feeding, changing, and soothing. There's no rush, allowing everyone to stay comfortable and relaxed.

As your newborn photographer, I will help you through all of these!

Planning Your Session

Newborn sessions are typically scheduled during morning hours when natural light is soft and babies are often most content. Sessions last about 1-2 hours, allowing plenty of time for baby's needs and ensuring we capture a beautiful variety of poses and combinations.

For the best experience, I recommend booking your newborn session while still pregnant, ideally in your second or third trimester. This allows us to tentatively schedule around your due date and adjust once your little one arrives.

A Timeless Investment

Looking at these images of sweet Laiken and her family reminds me why newborn photography is such a precious investment. These fleeting early days pass so quickly, but through photography, we freeze these precious moments in time. The way Dad gazes adoringly at his new daughter, Mom's gentle touch as she cradles her baby, and those peaceful newborn expressions – these are the memories that deserve to be preserved.

Whether displayed in beautiful wall art or preserved in an heirloom album, these images will tell the story of your family's earliest days together for generations to come.
